Sex: male - Birthdate: 6/01 - Declawed: no epal was trapped by a woman because he had a very bad eye and she was desperate to help him. It took weeks to finally get him, but once she did, she took him to the vet who neutered, vaccinated and tested him for Feline Leukemia (negative) and FIV (positive). FYI: cats with FIV can live a LONG, healthy life with good care (you can read more about FIV-positive cats at the Best Friends website).
Before the vet checked out his eye, we thought he was going to have to lose it, but since it was not ruptured or prolapsed, the vet said that it could be saved. Thank goodness he turned out to NOT be a feral cat, so that we could continue treating his eye, otherwise it may not have gotten much better. The condition he has is herpes conjunctivitis, and he needs drops in his eye daily as well as L-Lysine added to his food twice a day. He looks 90% better than when she first rescued him! UPDATE: Nepal no longer needs drops in his eye daily; only the oral L-Lysine given to him twice a day! When you first meet Nepal, he may be a bit shy (could be from his time spent on the streets!); but he warms up to people quickly! He is VERY affectionate, playful, and enjoys the company of people as well as other cats. He absolutely LOVES to be petted and stroked and fussed over! He's also very expressive with his vocalizations. There isn't a mean bone in him. He is easy to medicate and seems to like people and other cats. He is an extremely handsome Seal Point Siamese and he is also polydactyl (extra toes!) on his front paws. He will make a wonderful companion for someone. This poor little guy hasn't had very good luck so far, but things have
looked up for him since he was rescued, and we're hoping that everything
will continue to get better for him. Now, if someone can just overlook
the fact that he's not perfect, but with good care, nutrition, and a loving
caretaker, this handsome boy can live for many, many years! If you have any questions, please contact Sharon at sebastian_sophie@yahoo.com.
